Ah yes, take in the fresh air of the Rockies. That is if you're not standing down wind from a large steaming pile of elk scat (that's poop to you and I). This place is definately what you think of when you imagine the Rockies, minus the free flowing rivers of Coor's Light waiting to be consumed in large quantities. Well, that's how I imagined it anyway. You will get hit with a $20 fee to get into the 416 square miles that make up Rocky Mountain National Park. The park entrance had a bunch of elk in the fields on both sides which was pretty cool considering we'd only been in Colorado for about an hour at that point. Trail Ridge Road is what you take for a nice scenic drive through Rocky Mountain National Park. This road is 48 miles of white knuckle driving fun as you navigate it's windy bends. I mean it's a very well constructed road but you may need a change of underpants on hand if you don't like heights. We ended up missing out on a lot of fantastic photo opportunities because of heavy fog. There were several places all along the road to pull over and snap some pictures. That is of course if fog doesn't limit visibility, which was several feet during our time there in late May.
